The electorate in Haryana have reposed trust in six sitting Congress MPs, while also welcoming two young candidates of the party by electing them to the lower house.
Barring Jai Parkash, who lost to HJC's Bhajan Lal from Hisar, rest of the six sitting MPs fielded by the ruling Congress in Haryana managed to retain their seats.
Union Ministers Selja (Ambala-SC) and Rao Inderjit Singh (Gurgaon) retained their seats. Navin Jindal (Kurukshetra), Arvind Sharma (Karnal), Deepinder Hooda (Rohtak) and Avtar Singh Bhadana (Faridabad) also retained their seats.
However, people rejected the BJP's lone sitting MP from Sonepat Kishen Singh Sangwan, choosing Congress MLA Jitender Singh Malik instead.
The voters of Haryana also showed their preference for new faces. Senior INLD leader Ajay Chautala was rejected by the people from Bhiwani-Mahendergarh constituency and elected first-timer Congress' Shruti Choudhry, the 33-year-old grand daughter of late Bansi Lal.
From Sirsa (SC) seat, people welcomed youth Congress president Ashok Tanwar, who beat the 'outsider tag' to register a win.
