Petrol pump owners threaten to launch agitation

The petrol pump owners of south Gujarat have warned to launch a 'no purchase campaign' if steps are not taken to address their grievances at the earliest.

The South Gujarat Petrol-Diesel Dealers Association President Daulat Desai, stated in a release, "Several issues related to the petrol-diesel dealers or petrol pump owners are pending since a long time. If the government and the oil companies do not take steps to address these issues, petrol pump owners all over Gujarat, would launch a 'No Purchase Campaign'."

"No compensation is paid to the dealers for the temperature losses at the time of tanker refilling by the oil companies, which result in heavy losses to the dealers. The dealers also have to suffer due to various contradictions in the rules & regulations of the oil companies and the government," it stated.

The release also complained of unnecessary harassment from the officials of the Weights & Measures Department.
