The second phase of polling to the local bodies in Kerala will be held today, in which voters of seven districts -- Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Kottayam, and Idukki -- will cast their votes.
The polling will commence at 7 am and end by 5 pm. In the first phase of the elections held on Saturday, the average polling was 75.72 per cent with Wayanad (81 per cent) and Kannur (80 per cent) reporting the highest rate.
Monday's polling will take place in 20,843 polling stations and around 1.23 crore eligible voters are expected to take part. According to an official release, there are 41,015 candidates in the fray for 12,374 wards / divisions.
The state election commission has ordered re-polling on Monday in seven divisions, six of them in Kannur district alone, due to violent incidents.
