To ensure that real estate projects are not delayed on account of environmental clearances, industry assoiciation PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI) has urged the government to do away with the requirement of approval for every small development of a master plan."For each small development, forming part of a well planned master plan, there should not be a necessity to obtain any further clearances which hold development of projects for years or months together. Even if a clearance from the Ministry of Environment & Forests is needed, it should be meant for the master plan to be arranged by the State authorities and not for each individual project," PHDCCI in a release said. The other suggestions include building plans or occupation permission to include guidelines for use of ready-mix concrete, fly ash based products, planting of number of trees, among others.According to PHDCCI, real estate development contributes around 14% of the national gross domestic product (GDP) and the industry is growing at a rate of 30% annually.
