The Planning Commission approved a plan outlay of Rs 9,240 crore for 2010-11, which was Rs 400 crore more than what was sanctioned by the former Shibu Soren led government.

The Commission has approved the inclusion of more funds to curb the Naxalite menace spread over 11 districts of Jharkhand. The districts worst effected by Naxalite terror are Palamau, Chatra, Garhwa, Laterhat, Gumla, Lohardaga, East Singhbhum, West Singhbhum, Hazaribagh, Bokaro and Ramgarh.

An additional fund of Rs 200 crore was earmarked exclusively for the 11 Naxalite affected districts. Besides, the state would receive Rs 40 crore as additional central assistance for constructing buildings for various block offices. The Centre has earlier proposed to grant Rs 1,100 crore for 11 Naxal infested districts for road and bridge connectivity, drinking water, education and health.
