Ahluwalia assured the GMR chief that the Commission will impress upon the government to provide adequate number of security personnels to manage entry points and other related services at the Delhi airport.

Rao, who met Ahluwalia along with other company officials, pointed out that Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), which is managing the airport, was facing several problems resulting from bureaucratic delays over which it has no control.
Rao also informed the Commission about DIAL's plans to set up a temporary terminal to deal with the growing passenger traffic at the international airport.

The GMR chief's meeting with Ahluwalia assumes significance as it comes within days of much-publicised letter written by Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel to the Planning Commission Deputy Chief, raising issues concerned with delay in the modernisation of airports.

The Planning Commission had earlier reviewed the progress of the modernisation of Delhi airport at a meeting with DIAL functionaries, which prompted Patel to shoot off the letter to Ahluwalia.
