Training its guns on the Prime Minister, the Bharatiya Janata Party put the blame for the disruption of on Thursday’s meeting of Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee (PAC) squarely on Manmohan Singh, saying it wondered what the Congress party was hiding on his behalf.
Addressing a late night press conference, BJP President Nitin Gadkari said all these days when the PAC was hearing the depositions of journalists and industrialists, the Congress never tried to disrupt meetings. But the minute PMO representatives were scheduled to appear for questioning, the Congress, DMK, Bahujan Samaj Party and Samajwadi Party members closed ranks to prevent getting at the truth.
“The Congress, Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party are now swimming in the same triveni of corruption,” Gadkari said. He alleged four Congress ministers were present in Parliament House all day and directed operations.
He said PAC chairman Murli Manohar Joshi is required to give the PAC report to the Speaker of the Lok Sabha and would do so possibly on Saturday. Former finance minister Yashwant Sinha, also a PAC member, will address a press conference tomorrow.
