Over hundred years after the famous Dogra ruler Partap singh conceived the idea of connecting the Kashmir valley with the rest of the country through rail, it was a dream come true for the people of the state when Prime Minister Manmohan Singh today inaugurated the 55-km Jammu-Udhampur rail line by flagging off the Uttar Sampark Kranti Express from Udhampur today.The Jammu-Udhampur rail line is the first phase of the Rs 7,000 crore Jammu-Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla national rail line project to connect the state with the rest of the country.
