Police seize fake currency notes worth Rs 14 lakh

Six people were arrested after Surendranagar local crime branch officials seized a consignment of fake currency notes worth Rs 14 lakh and duplicate gold biscuits weighing 2,100 grams.
 
"Acting on a tip-off, we deputed one of our head-constable who posed as a businessman interested in dealing with fake currency and caught the accused red-handed," said D R Chudasama, police inspector, Surendranagar.
 
Police seized 200 fake notes of Rs 1,000 denomination, 2,296 notes of Rs 500 denomination, 407 notes of Rs 100 denomination and 423 notes of Rs 50 denomination, along with the fake gold biscuits.
 
Police also seized cars, mobile phones and color photostat machines used for printing the fake currency in Wadhwaan taluka of Surendranagar district.
