About the timing, the minister said "certainly before we go for elections (Lok Sabha)".
Asked whether airport projects allow developers to use 10-15 per cent of the allocated land for building malls and hotels, Patel said only commercial activity like setting up hotels for the convenience of passengers is allowed. "Land use at airports owned by Airports Authority of India (AAI) is governed by the provisions of AAI Act, 1994, and local laws whereas at other airports is governed as per the local laws," the minister said.
He said in case of Delhi, it is only 5 per cent of the land which has been allocated for commercial use while in Mumbai it is 10 per cent. There is no policy as such which allows 10-15 per cent of land for commercial use.
