Even before Union Home Minister, P Chidamabaram, made a statement that the Centre would hold wide ranging discussions with all stakeholders on the issue of separate Telangana, the representatives of various political parties held closed door meetings on Wednesday to chalk out their future course of action.

While the Telangana leaders of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) closeted with party president, N Chandrababu Naidu, president of the Telangana Rashtra Samithi ( TRS) K Chandrasekhara Rao held a meeting with his party leaders. Both the non-Telangana and Telangana leaders of the Congress held separate meetings.

Meanwhile, chief minister, K Rosaiah, held an emergency Cabinet meeting to discuss the possible situation in the state post the Centre’s announcement.

Agriculture minister N Raghuveera Reddy said that the Cabinet unanimously expressed the view that the Centre had made a balance statement on the Telangana issue.

Health minister D Nagender said the state government would not be a silent spectator if people take law into their hands.

Rosaiah also held a meeting with the top police officials earlier. The chief minister appealed to the MLAs to take back their resignation letters submitted to the Assembly speaker in the light of the Centre’s statement, which has be unanimously endorsed by the state Cabinet.
