After Madhya Pradesh, now Chhattisgarh says it has become a power-deficit state.

The Raman Singh government has blamed the Centre for the power crisis in the state and objects to the central government's move to reduce the central power quota.

"It has also led to a situation where the state has a shortfall of 500-600 Mw, which is almost 30 per cent of the demand," a government spokesperson said, quoting Raman Singh's letter to the Prime Minister and Power Minister P M Sayeed.

Raman Singh has requested the Centre to "intervene and restore full allocation to Chhattisgarh from the central sector's quota".

According to the chief minister, the ministry of power has withdrawn 288 MW from the central sector's quota.
