Power generation up 8.6% in July

Power generation in July this year was 54.04 billion unit (BU), which was 8.6 per cent higher than the 49.78 BU recorded in July 2005.

During April-July, 2006, the actual generation of energy was 216.5 BU surpassing the target of about 215.6 BU. In the three-month period generation registered a growth of 6.1 per cent over the actual generation of about 204.09 BU during the corresponding period of last year.

The corresponding growth in April-July 2005 was 5.2 per cent.

Power generation in all the three categories "" thermal, nuclear and hydro "" not only registered growth ranging from 3.5 per cent to 13.5 per cent over the actual generation last year but also exceeded the respective target for the current year.
