The Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SICCI) is organising Pravasi Bharitya Divas Singapore aimed at strengthening ties between the Indian diaspora in the region and partner with trade and business across Asia-Pacific.
The three-day international conference, organised in collaboration with Ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and CII, would be modelled on the annual Pravasi Bharitya Divas in India, the SICCI said a release.
The event, starting from October 9, would be inaugurated by Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.
PBD Singapore assumes significance in the backdrop of growing trade volume between India and Singapore. Indian companies account for the third largest overseas group in Singapore with more than 3,000 of them operating in the country.
Singapore is also the fourth largest cumulative investor in India with 2.26 billion dollars of foreign direct investment.
