President of India APJ Abdul Kalam will visit Gujarat on Tuesday to attend a number of programmes at Anand and Vadodara. |
Kalam will attend three functions at Anand during the day, while in Vadodara he will inaugurate a research laboratory. |

Kalam will kick off a six-day symposium on 'Government in development: issues, challenges and strategies,' organised by the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) as part of its silver jubilee celebration. He will also visit the Anand Agriculture University (AAU) and witness the bio-diesel production project. |

AAU has developed a project to extract oil from Jetroffa, a plant to be used for production of bio-diesel. Kalam is also likely to attend a public meet organised by AAU. |

"Kalam has always been concerned with the issues related to rural development. We feel that he is the most appropriate person to inaugurate the seminar focused on rural development issues. Kalam has his own wide experience on development issues in concerned fields," said K Prathap Reddy, director, IRMA. |

About 200 scholars, development practitioners and government representatives will participate in the symposium organised by IRMA in association with number of non-profit organisation. |

The Union human resource management minister Arjun Singh and Montek Singh Ahluwalia, deputy chairman of Planning Commission, are also expected accompany the President. |

Kalam will also address a staff assembly at National Dairy Development Board. In the evening, Kalam will leave for Vadodara to inaugurate the new research centre developed by Sun Pharmaceuticals. |

Sun Pharma has developed a Sun Pharma Advance Research Center (SPARC) at the cost of Rs 70 crore for advance research into new drug discovery. |

IRMA has also lined up a meet between Kalam and Snehal Thakkar, a second-year graduate student whom Kalam has dedicated his masterpiece for children 'Ignited Minds'. |

Thakkar was in standard 12 when Kalam visited Anand two years ago. |
