Welcoming the government's 100-day programme, which emphasises on sectors that have been adversely hit by the global financial meltdown, industry body Ficci today said President Pratibha Patil has unveiled a growth-centric agenda for the new UPA government.
In her address to the joint sitting of Parliament, the President referred to major reform issues, from disinvestment and passing pending reform bills to reforms in education and health.
"These reforms and institutional proposals can usher India in to the next phase of growth," Ficci President Harsh Pati Singhania said in a statement.
The sectors prioritised by the government for immediate attention include SMEs, exports, textiles, commercial vehicles, infrastructure and housing.
Further, the chamber said it is happy on the decision of the government to have public accountability for NREGA.
"Decision to present five annual reports by the government to the people on education, health, employment, environment and infrastructure will bring about more transparency in the system ensuring better governance," Ficci said.
