For the first time, India will have a mechanism to forecast demand, supply, stock, price and trade potential of agriculture crops on a regular basis. The facility will be available as a result of a indigenous model developed by the National Centre for Agriculture Economics and Policy Research which has the potential to provide both medium-term and long-term outlook on cereals and oilseeds for the preceding one year and next 15 years. The model is called the 'Commodity Outlook Model'. The outlooks will be released every year after the rabi and kharif crop is harvested with a gap of six months.
