Attacking the party offices and staging violent protests in the premises by and on behalf of those who fail to secure tickets have become a common practice in every general election.
While all the parties have faced ugly scenes at the time of ticket distribution, The Congress headquarters had acquired the distinction of being set on fire by an angry leader in the past.

According to party leaders, the security cover was provided to Gandhi Bhavan in anticipation of a huge demand for tickets by party aspirants. They had to go for private security as there were limitations in seeking protection from the police, according to them.
Local television channels beamed the news stating bouncers had been deployed at Gandhi Bhavan to control the mobs ahead of declaring the names of candidates.
AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh, who is in charge of AP affairs, said in Delhi on Wednesday that the party had finalised the names of candidates for 90 out of the 119 Assembly seats in Telangana. According to him, a similar exercise for Seemandhra was under way. Elections in Seemandhra will be held in the last phase on May 7.
