Train services on the Central Railway (CR) were disrupted for the second consecutive day on Thursday by angry passengers who pelted stones at local trains to protest fewer trains on the route, CR sources said. |
Hundreds of passengers during peak office hours pelted stones on local trains at Thane station as they had difficulty in boarding them due to overcrowding, sources said. |

Both up and down trains on the section were halted till 11.30 am. As the city police and the government railway police tried to disburse the crowd, the sources said. |

The services were resumed on the section at 12 noon, they added. |

Meanwhile, seven long distance trains resumed services from Thursday on Central Railway section while five south-bound trains have resumed their journey via Pune. |

Two north-bound trains also resumed services through Virar-Vasai route on Western Railway. |

However, trains on the Harbour and Western lines were running as per schedule. |

On Wednesday, train services on Central Railway section were disrupted as over 2,000 people stopped trains at Mumbra, two stations after Thane, for over five hours for 'delay' in frequency of trains. |
