PTU opens regional centre in AP

The Punjab Technical University (PTU) opened its regional centre in Hyderabad on Monday as support to its 55 learning centres in Andhra Pradesh that are making online and distance learning (ODL) admissions to the courses of the university. Vidya Infosys, the regional centre for PTU in the state, is acting as a facilitation centre of the university to these authorised learning centres.

“The university is committed to provide professional and skillful education across multiple genres, through distance education and strengthen the education system,” PTU joint secretary RPS Bedi stated in a press release.

The learning centres would help in churning out technically-qualified manpower, which would eventually enhance the management bandwidth in Andhra Pradesh, said M Dewan, regional head and chief executive of Vidya Infosys.

The learning centre runs on the ODL model, which facilitates with daily classes, flexibility of the programme, multi-entry-multi-exit, online learning system and relevant self-instructional material.

The disciplines include IT management, engineering, architecture, pharmacy, mass communication, biotechnology, apparel and fashion design, hospitality and journalism, the release added.
