The permission will be granted by the PUDA estate offices. The authority will charge a processing fee on the application for the setting up of towers. It will also ask the telecommunication companies to deposit a security , which will be refunded later.

Suresh Kumar, chief administrator of PUDA, said the installation of the towers would be permitted on buildings and the open space available within industrial, commercial and institutional areas. No installation of towers will be allowed in residential areas.

He said the Patiala Development Authority (PDA) had launched two projects for the development of integrated townships and augmentation of water supply in the city.

The authority has decided to revive the Baradari Gardens at an estimated cost of Rs 1.5 crore. The State Bank of Patiala will contribute Rs 1 crore and the rest will be borne by the PUDA and the PDA.

The PDA is also developing a habitat centre. While the state government will provide land for the centre, the project cost will be borne by the central government.

The centre is being jointly developed by PUDA and Housing Urban Development Corporation.
