Puducherry govt earmarks 14% of budgetary allocations for education

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy on Friday said the government has been earmarking 14 per cent of the total budgetary allocations for education and to provide infrastructures in the government-run institutions in the Union Territory.

Distributing certificates and medals to students of the Bharathidasan Government College for Women at the institute's seventh graduation day in Puducherry, he said the government was keen that women's education should be encouraged.

Stating that the government organisations like ONGC and IOC have also responded to the call by the government to promote education and infrastructures under their corporate social responsibility scheme, he said the government had planned to upgrade the Dr B R Ambedkar Government Law college here into a Law School.
