Punjab CM gives nod to set up landscaping authority

The CM said it was the need of the hour to enhance the green cover in the cities for saving the urban residents from the scourge of increasing pollution

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal gave nod to set up the Punjab State Landscaping Authority to beautify cities and reduce pollution in the state.

Badal said it was the need of the hour to enhance the green cover in the cities for saving the urban residents from the scourge of the increasing pollution. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal also mooted a proposal for setting up a horticulture wing as part of the Urban Development Authority.

The chief minister said the haphazard growth of cities in the state have turned them into concrete jungles due to which the residents were becoming prone to a number of health ailments. He also said the best solution for all these problems was to enhance greenery in the cities that would not only give a beautiful look but also reduce the pollution.
