Punjab covers all households under PMJDY
The scheme provides accidental insurance of Rs 1 lakh, life insurance cover of Rs 30,000 and issuance of RuPay debit card to every account holder
BS Reporter Punjab has covered all households under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana. The scheme provides accidental insurance of Rs 1 lakh, life insurance cover of Rs 30,000 and issuance of RuPay debit card to every account holder.
It was launched on August 28 in Punjab by the chief minister at Ludhiana. To cover 5.4 million households in the state, a door-to-door survey was conducted by banks with the help of state government.
In the survey, it was found that 45,73,705 households were already having bank accounts and 8,63,524 households were to be covered.
