Punjab fixes deadline for delivery of rice stock to central pool

BS Reporter New Delhi/ Chandigarh The Punjab government today fixed June 30 as the deadline for delivery of balance stock of rice in the central pool. Disclosing this here today, D S Grewal, secretary food and civil supply said that the Punjab government had fixed a target of 85 lakh tonnes rice for the central pool. He added that till date 74 lakh tonnes of rice (87 per cent) has been deposited in the central pool. He said that the residue supply of 11 lakh tonnes rice was to be delivered by June 30.
He said that all arrangements have been completed and district officers have been asked to ensure the compliance.
Instructions have also been issued to charge Rs 2600 per quintal from the millers if they fail to release the supply in time for the central pool.
