Mulls to launch hygienically tested water under its premium 'Sohna' brand

Having popularised its ready-to-eat dishes in European and Arab countries, Markfed, a public sector undertaking of the Punjab government, is now all set to venture into the bottled drinking water market. It is planning to launch hygienically tested water under its premium 'Sohna' brand. The production unit of this packaged drinking water is likely to be set up in Jalandhar, which would now be made operational by January 2014.

Markfed has forayed into the mineral water market in India and also abroad, realising its brand patronage and it is exploring the possibilities to take this unique initiative to give a major fillip to the economy of the state's prestigious marketing cooperative. It has already made a mark with food products like ghee, refined oils, sauces Basmati rice etc., but now. with the ever increasing demand of the bottled water , it is all set to introduce the Sohna packaged drinking water.
