Punjab to prepare master plan for industrial city

In order to give Impetus to IT industry in the region, the Punjab Government has engaged a Consortium of ‘Erns & Young-Halcrow’ to prepare the master plan of prestigious upcoming '1200 crore ‘Global Industrial & Knowledge City’ at Rajpura.

The state government has already identified 1,359.5 acres of land for the upcoming IT city and an estimated cost of Rs 150 crore had been earmarked to undertake acquisition process. A decision to this effect was taken by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal in a meeting.

Emphasising the need to promote IT sector, Badal said setting up of this IT city would help the state to compete global challenges on one hand and source of employment generation on the other.

He also asked CMD Power Com to ensure an uninterrupted IT essential dedicated power supply for the project and all such important aspects.
