An earthquake measuring 5.2 on the Richter scale rocked a Tibetan county today, four days after a massive temblor in the neighbouring Qinghai province of China left over 1,000 people dead.
Today's quake in Nyainrong county in Tibet's Nagqu region occurred at 8:58 am local time, China Earthquake Network Centre said.
No immediate reports of casualties or economic loss were available.
The epicentre of the quake was 32.5 degrees north latitude and 92.8 degrees east longitude, about 60 kms north of Nyainrong, with a depth of about 10 kms.
Tibet's seismological bureau has sent a work team to Nyainrong, the official Xinhua news agency reported.
The quake-hit area, which is sparsely populated, has an average altitude of 5,000 metres.
On March 24, two earthquakes measuring 5.7 and 5.5 had struck Nyainrong without causing casualties.
Today's quake came four days after over 1,000 people were killed in the 7.1 magnitude temblor in Qinghai province, where rescuers raced against time to save hundreds of people still buried under the rubble.
