The country-wide raids by Income Tax teams on the houses of former Jharkhand Chief Minister Madhu Koda and his associates continued for the second day today and he is expected to be summoned soon for “detailed questioning”.

The IT department will issue notices to Koda and others after the completion of scrutiny of the seized material, official sources said in New Delhi.

The department carried out country-wide searches on at least 70 premises associated with Koda yesterday and seized voluminous documents, computer peripherals and other records pertaining to bank details in connection with alleged hawala transactions and illegal investments made by him and his associates abroad. “Investigations, questioning and raids in several places are still on,” I-T Director of Investigation, Ujjwal Chaudhary, told newsmen in Ranchi.

“It is in a critical stage,” he said but refused to give any additional information. “Raids at some places concluded while they are continuing in several other places. Seizure of documents and sealing of houses are continuing,” said another I-T official.
