DCM Shriram Consolidated Ltd (DSCL), one the country's leading business groups, is helping the Rajasthan government to support the state's Mid Day Meal Scheme for school children.

The company has donated Rs 1 crore for the scheme. Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje Scindia made this announcement during the inauguration of a centralised kitchen at Jhalawar.

The scheme would be entirely funded by DSCL and would cater to 25,000 children in 230 schools in the state.

Aiming to provide fresh food, cooked in a hygienic environment, to children and encourage their parents to send them to school, the centralised kitchen has a capacity to cater to 40,000 children in the near future and will be operated by a local NGO "Naandi Foundation". The food preparation will be done by automatic machines.

DSCL Chairman and Senior Managing Director Ajay S Shriram said, "This initiative in Jhalawar is in line with our philosophy of pursuing a collective growth in the communities which we live in."

DSCL is an integrated business group, with presence across the entire agri-rural value chain and chloro-vinyl industry. The company is adding innovative value-added businesses in these domains.

With a large base of captive power produced at a competitive cost, the company aims at maximising value creation in its chloro-vinyl business. DSCL's business includes Fenesta Building Systems, rural retailing initiative Hariyali Kisaan Bazaar and the Energy Services consultancy ESCO.
