Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh flayed the Rail Budget 2010-11 and said it had let down the expectations of the people.

"The rail budget has disappointed the people of Chhattisgarh," Singh said. People had a lot of expectations as the Bilaspur zone in Chhattisgarh was generating highest revenue for the railways, he added.

Only two new trains had come to the state's share in the Union Railway Budget. The trains include Raipur-Jharsuguda and Korba-Chirmiri besides the Mumbai-Guwahati train passing through the state.

"Chhattisgarh has poor rail connectivity and we have been demanding more trains for the state," Singh said, adding that the Railway Minister ignored the demands.

The demand of gauge conversion of meter-gauge between Raipur and Dhamtari route and its expansion upto Kanker had been pending for many years. "The train service could have helped the poor tribals of Bastar region to transport forest produce," Singh added.
