After a gap of 14 months, yoga guru Ramdev is back in Delhi to lead an agitation against black money and corruption. However, this time, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has advised him not to get into any confrontation with the government.
The journey from Delhi to Haridwar in June last year, when Ramdev was forcefully removed from Ramlila grounds, has softened the yoga teacher. He announced, on the first day of the three-day fast at the same venue, that he was fighting to strengthen the country.
“We are not against any individual or party. Our intention is to make India a great nation. This is not to overthrow someone from power. The fight for Lok Pal has not ended. We will take it forward,” Ramdev told his supporters.
He has also demanded the government set up an independent Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) and change the process of appointing the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, Central Vigilance Commission chief and CBI director.
In return for following its advice, RSS has assured Ramdev of support for his movement. It has also asked its cadre to join the agitation. “There is nothing wrong in holding protests democratically and everyone should come forward to support Ramdev because he is fighting against corruption and black money,” said an RSS leader.
