Kashiram Rana, the former Union rural development minister, has predicted that the Bharatiya Janata Party will win all the five seats in Gujarat in the by-polls to be held on Wednesday.

Addressing mediapersons, Rana said, "BJP has applied all it's strength in the five assembly seats. Everyone, including chief minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat BJP chief, Rajendrasinh Rana, and other leaders, have addressed election rallies in the five assembly constituencies."

"We are extremely confident of victory. The extremely good response we have got from voters, during campaigning, has only added to our confidence. Regardless of the fact that the five assembly constituencies have traditionally been Congress strongholds, we firmly believe that we will be able to win all the five seats in the by-elections," he said.

"Congress had won the Vyara (Surat), Dharampur (Valsad), Khedbrahma (Sabarkantha), Bhanvad (Jamnagar) and Borsad (Mehsana), during the previous elections, but we are confident that we will win all the five seats, and that too with huge margins," he said.

"While BJP has unleashed a full strength campaign in all the five seats, the Congress leaders have acted as if they were least interested in the by-polls. The internal strife in Congress has once again come to the fore during the campaigning, which will certainly benefit us," Rana said.

"People are not happy with the Congress-led Government at the Centre. They realise that their constituencies have been literally neglected by the government. The people are eager to teach the Congress a lesson during the by-polls," the former Union minister added.
