The award, announced at the Bangalore Nano 2007, the country's first public event dedicated to promoting nanotechnology in India. |

"Nano is not new to India, but in its present form is very new to us. We have to make nano a real science," Rao, who is also the chairman of the scientific advisory committee to the Prime Minister, said in his address. |

He said Nanotechnology was fast catching up to becoming a mainstream science. |

"Nano has created a new excitement in science and technology, than anything else. Nano will play a big role in our unknown future," he added. |
