Rates of around 400 procedures have been revised including cancer treatment and one new additional medical management package related to black fungus has been added.
This revised health benefit package is expected to be rolled out from November this year, the health ministry said. Private hospitals had raised concerns with the health ministry on the rates of treatment under the scheme, saying they were not viable and becoming a hindrance for their participation in the initiative.
Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said the revised packages for oncology will enhance cancer care for the beneficiaries in the country. “I am sure that the rationalised HBP (health benefit package) will further improve the uptake of the scheme in private hospitals leading to reduced out-of-pocket expenditure for the beneficiaries,” the minister said.
Under medical management procedures, the rate for ICU with ventilator has been revised by 100 per cent and ICU without ventilator by 136 per cent. Rates for high dependency units have been revised by 22 per cent while prices for routine ward has been revised by 17 per cent.
State health agencies currently implementing any of the previous versions of HBPs can now accept and implement the latest version — HBP 2.2, a government statement said.
