Regional art centre at Gwalior at Rs 90 crore

The Centre will also undertake the task of conservation of historical monuments and buildings of architectural importance.
 
"The union ministry of textiles has sanctioned an amount of Rs 90 lakh for the project and an amount of Rs 27 lakh has been disbursed to the Special Area Development Authority Gwalior as first installment. Karukul Foundation New Delhi has been appointed as technical agency for the project," a government official said.
 
As many as 6000 craftsmen from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh will get training in the center.
 
The SADA Gwalior and management of Counter Magnet City will monitor the project. The SADA has apportion Moti Mahal premises for the center. A big hall and 14 rooms have been allocated for the project.
 
"The allocated portion of the Moti Mahal has been renovated with an investment of Rs 8.41 lakh, machines and plants are being installed in the premises. A total of 55 lakh will be invested in plant and machineries and another amount of Rs 19.80 lakh has been earmarked for electrification of the premises during the year 2006-07," said the official adding, "SADA has arranged the funds for electrification work."
