Report on FDI in retail to be submitted in 15 days

A report on the impact of organised retailing on small retail stores, being prepared by think-tank Indian Council of Research in International Economic Relations (ICRIER), will be submitted to the government in the next fortnight.

"The report being prepared by ICRIER will come within 15 days," a senior government official said.

In March 2007, the commerce ministry had commissioned the study to ascertain the impact of organised retailing on the unorganised retail sector. ICRIER was to submit the report in July 2007, but the schedule was changed to enable the institute to conduct more surveys.
