The irrigation department of the West Bengal government today submitted a report of the Flood Control Commission constituted in July this year to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
State Irrigation Minister Manas Bhuniya submitted the report to the chief minister and Chief Secretary Samar Ghosh.
Bhuniya told reporters that several recommendations had been made in the report which included seeking of fund from the Planning Commission.
He said that the report also suggested implementation of real time flood warning system which was pending with the Central Water Commission (CWC) for approval and allocation of fund.
The report also suggested formation of a high level committee in the name of Ganga Padma Bhagirathi Flood Control Committee to deal with the problem of erosion.
He said the report said that a flood management committee under the chairmanship of chief secretary be constituted to monitor flood management during monsoon.
