Retail inflation rose 1.5 percentage points in June for both agricultural and rural labourers compared to May, according to data issued by the ministry of labour and employment on Sunday.

For agricultural labourers (AL), consumer price index-based inflation increased to 12.85% from 12.70% in May. For rural labourers (RL), it rose to 12.65% from 12.50%.

The rise was mainly because of inflation in food items -- for AL, this rate rose to 13.97% in June from 13.37% in May and for RL, this rose to 13.92% from 13.14%.
