The standing committee of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation on Friday approved a budget of Rs 1,752.02 crore for 2015-16 with minor changes. One of the changes proposed by the civic body is a special zone for women to help them set up small business platforms.
Nitin Bharadwaj, chairman, RMC standing committee said, "Our aim is to provide support to women involved in the business of handicrafts, preparation of snacks and homemade decorative items, who do not have a proper set up to undertake their small business."

The civic body has allotted Rs 2.5 million in the budget towards this exercise and will start allotting the money in the current calendar year.
In other decisions, the civic body will be made free Wi-Fi zone and Race course, the most popular social gathering place in the city, will soon get 4G facility.
To meet the expenses towards this, the standing committee has allotted Rs 90 lakh and has begun talks with Reliance for it.
