Royal candidates in Rajasthan make poll battle king-size

Poll battles in the state have always been king-size, and now many candidates from royal families have entered the fray in Rajasthan carrying on the tradition.Congress candidate Chandresh Kumari is contesting from the Jodhpur seat against sitting MP Jaswant Singh Vishnoi. She is an erstwhile princess of Jodhpur's royal family and now the daughter-in-law of Himachal's Kangra royal family.      Chandresh is banking on voters in the Rajput, Jat, Mali, Muslim and section of the Brahmin community to grab the seat.     

Similarly, former Alwar royal family scion and Congress candidate Jitendra Singh is fighting battle against BJP nominee Kiran Yadav in Alwar.Jitendra Singh has a strong hold over the land of King Bhartrihari, a religious place in Alwar, and is likely to have an advantage after the withdrawal of BSP's Haji Mohammed.

BJP's Kiran might face tough times as two BJP leaders, including one sitting MLA, have revolted in favour of Singh.Another royal candidate is a former prince of Kota— Ijeyaraj Singh — who is fighting on a Congress ticket against BJP's Shyam Sharma.He has got a large vote bases owing allegiance to former royal family in Kota and has support of four sitting MLAs.
