About Rs 1000 crore would be disbursed in Kerala to provide employment under the National Rural Employment Guarantee scheme (NREGS), Prof N Ramakantan, Director Kerala Institute of Local Administration (KILA), said today.
Each grama panchayat would get Rs 1 crore, Ramakantan told reporters here.
The government has given top priority for housing in the 11th Five-year-plan, he said, adding, that the state would provide houses for houseless and land for landless in two years under the E M S housing scheme.
Ramakantan added there are about five lakh homeless families under BPL of which 130,000 are scheduled castes. Also, there are about 2 lakh landless families in the state.
