The National Bank for Agriculture & Rural Development (Nabard) has extended financial support of Rs 3,685.30 crore during 2009-10 to banks, the state government and NGOs in Rajasthan, recording a growth of 35 per cent over that in the previous fiscal.
For enabling cooperative banks and Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) to provided crop loan to farmers in the state, Rs 2,154.07 crore of refinance was provided as production credit during the year against Rs 1,455.18 crore in the previous year, NABARD Chief General Manager in Rajasthan, K Murlidhara Rao, told reporters here today.
In order to encourage banks to extend term laons to farmers for creation of capital assets under agriculture and allied activities like minor irrigation, farm mechanisation, horticulture, dairy, non farm sector, Self Help groups etc., Rs 680.70 crore of investment credit refinance was provided to commercial banks RRBs, and cooperative banks, Murlidhara said.
Nabard has been supporting the state government in creation of rural infrastructure through the NABARD administered Rural Infrastructure Development Fund, he said.
During the year, Nabard sanctioned Rs 1,015 crore for various rural infrastructure projects against which loan amounting to Rs 850 crore was disbursed to the state government, he added.
Soft loan of Rs 53 lakh had been provided to four NGOs for extended micro finance to tribal families and other households for taking up income generating activities under our Tribal Development projects as also to a Micro finance Institution (MFI) for undertaking micriofinance activities in Alwar district, the CGM said.
