More than 50 properties and receipts to the tune of Rs 4 crore in money lending business have been unearthed from three top cinema stars whose premises were searched by the income-tax authorities last month.
Documents seized from a leading heroine and her secretary showed that they had recently acquired at least 20 properties at Mumbai, Pune and surrounding areas while another leading star had 10 properties in the city, income tax sources said.
The sources said receipts indicating money lending business were found in searches carried out on the premises of 22 prominent film personalities and their associates. Evidences and entries recovered from at least three stars showed receipts indicating payment in black money as professional fees while there was unexplained expenditure running into lakhs of rupees.
The sources said initial statements of Madhuri Dixit, Shahrukh Khan and Ajay Devgan, who were away for outdoor shooting when the raids were carried out on December 18, have been recorded. Tax officials were going through documents and there has been no evidence so far of foreign exchange transactions.
