The highlight of the period was the stride made by the steel plant in the field of modernisation and expansion.
Three major units namely the new Blast Furnace-V, new Coke Oven Battery-VI and new Slab Caster-III were made operational in this period. The new blast furnace 'Durga' is the biggest operational blast furnace of the country.

The performance on the production front was equally encouraging.
The sinter production touched an all-time high of 17,95,916 tonne, with the new sinter unit contributing its best at 4,69,359 tonne.
RSP also clocked best ever production figures of hit metal, crude steel and saleable steel at 11,77,861 tonne, 10,98,202 tonne and 10,84,139 tonne respectively.
G S Prasad, chief executive officer of RSP congratulated the RSP team on the plant's performance. He emphasised on quick completion of the remaining new projects and stabilisation and synchronisation of the units that have come up under the plant's modernisation cum expansion programme.
The rolling mill zone too worked in tandem to retain the excellence in the plant's overall performance. The plant produced 4,53,991 tonne of HR (hot rolled) coils for sale which is the highest since its inception. By making 13,708 tonne of spiral weld pipes, 67,506 tonne of galvanized sheets and 35, 838 tonne of CRNO (cold rolled non-oriented) steel, RSP recorded growth of 5.5 per cent, 18.9 per cent and 3.4 per cent respectively over the corresponding period of last fiscal.
