The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) have decided to revive the Ayodhya movement.
During a recent RSS and VHP meet, the top brass decided to install idols of Lord Rama in villages across India between April 4 and April 18, the day of Hanuman Jayanti.
The two socio-religious organisations have also decided to send “holy soil” of the disputed shrine and the Saryu river that flows in Ayodhya to villages so that people could take a pledge for the Ram Temple construction in Ayodhya.
The three-member bench of the Allahabad high court had decided on September 30 that out of the total area of the disputed site, the Muslim community would get at least one-third of the land, while the remaining two-thirds would be distributed between the Nirmohi Akhara, the oldest litigants, and the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas of the VHP.
Senior members of the VHP said the final decision to relaunch the movement was taken in Ayodhya on February 26-27 during the meeting of religious leaders and members of the Ram Janmabhoomi Nyas, VHP arm working for the construction of the Ram Temple at the disputed site.
Sources in the RSS also confirmed that during the Akhil Bharatiya Pratinidhi Sabha (the annual general body meeting), senior leaders had decided to support the movement. The three-day meet started on March 11 in Puttur, Karnataka.
“Religious leaders of the Sant Ucha-adhikar Samiti have written letters to gram pradhans and gram sarpanch to help facilitate installation of idols of Lord Rama in villages. People should know what the entire Ayodhya movement was all about and the decision of the Allahabad high court,” said a senior VHP member.
