The Indian rupee depreciated by another 32 paise to 45.62 a dollar in early trade today, extending its slide for the fifth straight session on increased capital outflows.
The rupee closed lower by 37 paise at its six-week low at 45.30/31 a dollar in the previous session.
Forex dealers said continued capital outflows and dollar's gain against other Asian currencies weighed on the rupee sentiment.
Meanwhile, the Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark index, Sensex, plunged by 267.61 points, or 1.57 per cent to 16,719.92 points in opening trade today.
