Russia is learnt to have been exploring business and cultural tie-ups with Madhya Pradesh. |
Russian Federation Consul General Alexander V Mantytsky and senior officer Pavel F Achikyan called on Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at Mantralaya here yesterday and discussed with him investment possibilities in the state and promoting cultural relations. |

Mantytsky said Russian industrialists and traders had interests in the mining and tourism sectors in Madhya Pradesh and a visit of Russian investors had been proposed. |

He said the number of Russian tourists visiting India was increasing and this could benefit Madhya Pradesh, a government spokesperson said, adding, "The chief minister has assured cooperation." |

The delegation also organized an interaction with the Confederation of Indian Industry (Madhya Pradesh chapter) at Indore yesterday. |

"Mining, power, engineering, equipment for oil and gas exploration, mining and metallurgy, transport infrastructure, civil aviation, space research, information and communication technologies are some areas Russia want to explore with India," a CII statement said. |

"Sunil Chordia, chairman, CII (Madhya Pradesh Council) has said information technology, research and development are some of vital sectors where the two countries will be benefited from each other's expertise," the CII statement added. |

The new dimension of rupee-ruble trade will give a further boost to the economic ties between the two countries. Last year, the volume of trade between India and the Russian Federation was $2 billion. |
