The Trust was set up in 1999 to perpetuate the memory of Ustad Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. The basic objective was to promote quality music and organisation of free medical treatment of needy musicians. |

The Trust also revived the Sabrang Sammelan and funds raised would be used to finance the medical aid scheme.Zakir Hussain said, the sammelan in Kolkata today, would be a night-long one. |

The Trust donates all it raises through ticket sales and donations (minus expenses) to the ashram to help provide the free services. |

This time around, the Trust aimed to donate at least Rs 1 lakh to the ashram and the cheque would be handed over by this year's chief guest, Sanjay Budhia, chairman Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) eastern region. |
