Saudi Arabia has hailed the steps taken by India's Commerce Ministry, which led to the agreement between the two sides on freezing the anti-dumping duties on imports of polypropylene.

Polypropylene used in packaging, stationery, plastic parts and reusable containers of various types, to name a few.

Riyadh Chamber of Commerce and Industry's Member of Board of Directors and Chairman of Exports Committee Ahmad Al-Kredes said the efforts taken by the Ministry has led to an agreement to impose a freeze on anti-dumping duties.

The step is a prelude to its final settlement, he said, noting that this step comes within the framework of the policy pursued by the Saudi government for the protection of the country's industry based on the distinguished relations it shares with other countries.

Earlier, Ministry of Commerce and Industry for Technical Affairs' Under Secretary Mohammad Alkithairi had said in a statement to news wire SPA that the move to freeze the decision came after an investigation by Indian authorities into complaints by domestic polypropylene-producing companies against Saudi exports of the product.
